The Dating of the Mahabharata to 3067 BCE

Part 1 by Dr Manish Pandit

The basic astronomical references which occur in the Mahabharata have been shown here:

Saturn at Rohini.

MB(V.141.7)

Mars retrogressing from Jyestha

A Lunar eclipse at Kartika Purnima.

A Solar Eclipse at Jyestha.

This rare combination occurs only once in 7000 years.

Many have obfuscated this debate saying Saturn cannot possibly be mentioned at Aldebaran/Rohini in the epic , the Mahabharata, but it is to be noted that all Jyotishis will tell you of the legend that Saturn at Rohini is well known to cause disasters: “The earth is said to perform a Kapalika penance and catastrophic wars ensue.

MB(V.141.7)
