Ancient Indian Trigonometry part 1

By Dr. Manish Pandit

Well, lets talk about some ancient Hindu Trigonometry. Not many people know that John Playfair of the Royal society of Edinburgh studied the origins of Indian astronomy and trigonometry and came to the pleasant surprise that these two fields were well developed and extremely advanced in ancient India.
It should also not surprise you that this film is the first time most people would ever have learnt about this especially in India.

John Playfair however lives on way after his time, a true giant of mathematics, here is a short film devoted on his very amazing proof for the statement that “Hindu trigonometry is extremely ancient and should be accorded the status it deserves. Trigonometry developed in India and not out of it”.
